How is your solar power remunerated in Zug?
Via WWZ – and it has opted for the leanest model in 2026: It passes on the quarterly federal reference market price, there is no fixed-price product of its own. This market price is currently low (Q2 2026: 3.90 Rp./kWh), so that the statutory minimum remuneration of 6.00 Rp./kWh applies for systems up to 30 kW. In addition, there is 1.00 Rp./kWh for the solar guarantee of origin (systems up to 100 kW) – currently therefore around 7.00 Rp./kWh.
A Zug detail you should know: For small systems, WWZ only pays out the GO remuneration annually in May of the following year – so anyone feeding in during the summer will not see this money until the following spring. What incentives do you get in Zug?
In the city of Zug, three levels come together at once. Firstly, the federal government with the one-off feed-in incentive (EIV): around CHF 360 per kW for attached systems, CHF 400 per kW for integrated systems (under 30 kW). Secondly, the city of Zug itself, which is surprisingly generous: For roof systems from 2 kWp, it generally pays a municipal contribution analogous to the EIV (maximum CHF 5,000), for facade systems up to CHF 10,000, plus a greening bonus of CHF 200/kWp. Battery storage from 6 kWh is supported with 20 per cent of the costs (maximum CHF 10,000). This makes the city of Zug one of the most incentive-friendly locations in the region.
Thirdly, the canton: Although it pays no contribution per kWp, it rewards the combination of insulation plus photovoltaics – anyone who insulates their roof or facade and simultaneously installs a full-surface PV system receives a PV bonus of another CHF 60.–/m² in addition to the insulation contribution of CHF 60.–/m² (Zug incentive guide). The tax deduction rounds off the calculation, but falls smaller in franc terms in Zug than in Zurich, for example, due to the low tax rates.
