How is your solar electricity remunerated in Kloten?
Kloten does not belong to the EKZ area, but supplies itself via Industrielle Betriebe Kloten (IB Kloten), its own municipal utility. This does not change the remuneration model: since the new Electricity Act, the federal quarterly averaged reference market price has been the basis everywhere, with the statutory minimum remuneration of 6 Rp./kWh for systems up to 30 kW as the lower limit.
This lower limit is relevant in 2026: the reference market price was around 3.9 Rp./kWh in the second quarter and thus below the minimum remuneration – currently the 6 Rappen apply for the fed-in kilowatt hour. Whether IB Kloten additionally pays an eco-electricity surcharge or remunerates the guarantee of origin separately can be found in the current tariff sheet of the utility. What incentives do you get in Kloten?
The basis is the federal government: the one-off feed-in incentive (EIV) via Pronovo, around CHF 360 per kW for attached, CHF 400 per kW for in-roof systems (under 30 kW). For a 10 kW system, that is a good CHF 3,600.
Kloten is one of the most generous municipalities in the canton: the municipal photovoltaics incentive programme (regulation SRS 7.4-5, since 1 January 2023; credit increased by CHF 1.1 million in September 2025) pays a basic contribution of CHF 4,400 plus a performance contribution of 100% of the federal one-off feed-in incentive for solar systems on existing buildings – so the city doubles the federal contribution. For a 10 kWp solar system, this is around CHF 8,000 from the city plus CHF 3,600 from the federal government, altogether around CHF 11,600; maximum CHF 15,000 per building, one-off. On new buildings, the basic contribution is omitted, and the legally prescribed minimum performance is deducted. The prerequisite is the Pronovo ruling; applications are considered according to their date of receipt, as long as the credit lasts. Battery storage is not incentivised separately. The solar system must also be registered with ibk AG; for solar systems under 100 kW, ibk has been buying the guarantee of origin since 1 January 2026 for 1.62 Rp./kWh. In addition, there is the tax deduction for investments in existing buildings; there are no direct cantonal PV incentives.

Which roofs characterise Kloten – from the neighbourhood to the edge of the airport?
