How is your solar power remunerated in Meilen?
Meilen does not belong to the EKZ area, but is supplied via iNFRA, the own utility of the municipality, which also co-manages Uetikon am See. This does not change anything about the remuneration model: Since the new Electricity Act, the quarterly averaged reference market price of the Confederation applies everywhere as a basis, with the statutory minimum remuneration of 6 Rp./kWh for systems up to 30 kW as the lower limit.
This lower limit is relevant in 2026: The reference market price was around 3.9 Rp./kWh in the second quarter and thus below the minimum remuneration – the 6 Rappen currently apply for the fed-in kilowatt hour. What incentives do you get in Meilen?
The basis is the federal government: the one-off feed-in incentive (EIV) via Pronovo, around CHF 360 per kW for attached, CHF 400 per kW for in-roof systems (under 30 kW). For a 10 kW system, that is a good CHF 3,600.
Meilen has its own programme: The Ökologiefonds Meilen (managed by iNFRA, guidelines in force since 1 January 2025) pays CHF 150 per kWp up to 20 kWp for PV systems on existing buildings (above that CHF 60 per kWp), for facade systems and systems on protected buildings CHF 250 or 90 per kWp respectively – maximum CHF 8,000 per application. A 10 kWp system therefore receives CHF 1,500 from the municipality plus around CHF 3,600 from the Confederation. New builds and systems up to 5 kWp are not supported. The battery is also eligible for funding: CHF 200 per kWh for 2 to 10 kWh (above that CHF 50 per kWh), maximum CHF 5,000 – lithium-free batteries up to CHF 8,000. All contributions together are limited to CHF 25,000 per project; the application goes to iNFRA before the start of construction. In addition, there is the tax deduction for investments on existing buildings; there are no direct cantonal PV incentives.
