Solar panels Aargau: photovoltaics from a specialist company in your region
A turnkey solar system for a single-family home costs, as a guideline, CHF 2,100–2,700 per kWp. In Aargau, three things count: the federal one-off feed-in incentive (around CHF 360 per kWp – the canton itself doesn't subsidise PV directly), the net principle for taxation in force since 2026, and in the AEW grid the choice between an 8.2 Rp./kWh fixed price and the reference market price. ecoEn plans and installs in Aargau as a direct specialist company – for example the 36 kWp ZEV system on a farm in Schneisingen. (As of July 2026)
From the Baden district to the Freiamt: eastern Aargau is part of our service area, with short distances from Zurich. This page summarises what counts in the canton – cost, the incentive situation without a cantonal PV programme, the grid operators' remuneration models and a real reference. Our services in detail: Photovoltaics by ecoEn. For individual towns, we have separate guides: Baden, Wettingen, Brugg and Lenzburg.
What does a solar system cost?
Cost depends on system size, roof covering and household electrics. Guideline prices per kilowatt of capacity (kWp):
| System size | Guideline price per kWp | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 3–5 kWp | CHF 2,400–3,000 | small roofs, partial coverage |
| 5–10 kWp | CHF 2,100–2,700 | classic single-family home |
| 10–15 kWp | CHF 2,000–2,500 | larger single-family home, with heat pump or EV |
| 15–30 kWp | CHF 1,800–2,300 | large single-family roofs, small apartment buildings |
| from 30 kWp | CHF 1,500–2,000 | apartment buildings, businesses |
Guideline prices as of July 2026, turnkey incl. installation and VAT, before incentives. The binding figure is the individual quote.

Incentives in the Canton of Aargau
The Canton of Aargau pays no photovoltaic incentive of its own – the cantonal programme focuses on the building envelope and heating replacement. Three sources count for your system: the federal one-off feed-in incentive (around CHF 360 per kWp, as of July 2026), additional contributions from individual municipalities and the tax deduction – since 2026 supplemented by the net principle for taxing exported electricity. Details: Incentives in Aargau.

What do Aargau grid operators pay?
In the AEW grid, you can choose between two remuneration models in 2026: the fixed price of 8.2 Rp./kWh (excl. VAT) for energy including guarantee of origin – stable for the whole calendar year – or the quarterly averaged reference market price without transfer of guarantees of origin. The choice applies for the calendar year: AEW tariff in detail.
Towns such as Baden, Wettingen, Brugg or Lenzburg have their own utilities – there, the federal model with reference market price and statutory minimum remuneration applies. Overview and background: Feed-in tariffs compared.
Photovoltaics in Aargau: the numbers
Aargau is the largest solar market in our region: 25,869 photovoltaic systems with 757.8 MW of capacity are in operation, an average of 29.3 kWp per system, 6.8% of them roof-integrated. Per capita, the canton ranks 12th of 26 at 1,019 watts – well ahead of Zurich, but with room for improvement. (Source: Swissolar, Statistik Sonnenenergie 2025; as of August 2026)

Permits and notification: how it works in Aargau
A reasonably adapted roof system in Aargau does not need a building permit – it is notified to the municipality (Art. 18a RPG, § 49a BauV). Since 2026, this also applies to facade systems if they meet the federal design criteria.
- Notification: via the cantonal EVEN platform (energievollzug.ch) to the municipal council. If the municipality raises no objections within 30 days, construction may proceed.
- Documents: building elevation with the system marked, section with dimensions, module datasheet and orientation plan according to the VKF fire safety fact sheet on solar systems.
- Building application required: for buildings under substance protection, in village, old-town and core zones, in hamlet zones of national importance, for cultural monuments and for free-standing systems and solar fences.
- Commercial advantage: in industrial, work and commercial zones, roof systems remain permit-free even if they protrude more than 20 cm above the roof surface (pitched roof) or more than 1 m above the roof edge (flat roof).
- After construction: report to the Aargau building insurance (AGV); under the notification procedure, no additional cantonal fire safety permit is required.
Before the quote, we check whether your address is in a protection or core zone and submit the notification or building application for you – in parallel with the connection application to AEW or your municipal utility and the Pronovo registration. What our quote includes – and what it doesn't
The most common worry before signing isn't the price but the question of what gets added at the end. That's why we show both.
Included: planning and design, materials (modules, inverter, mounting system, cabling), scaffolding, installation, the electrical connection by our own specialist company, commissioning and measurement, registration with the grid operator and the incentive application to Pronovo – we submit it for you.
Shown separately: anything added in individual cases appears as its own item in the quote, not in a lump sum. The most common case: if the existing meter distribution board – the fuse box – is not suitable for the system and needs to be adapted, we invoice this separately. Depending on the property, official fees and work provided by the client may also apply.
Payment in stages, linked to project progress. Under our terms and conditions (AGB), that's 30% on placing the order, 50% on delivery of the main components and 20% after commissioning and acceptance. We agree different terms on a project basis; the arrangement in your quote always applies.
Who is liable for what
After the company bankruptcies in the Swiss solar industry, this is the question that counts in the end – and it has three different answers:
- Product and performance warranties lie with the manufacturer of the modules, inverter and storage. A manufacturer's warranty is only ever as reliable as the manufacturer behind it – that's why, when choosing products, we also consider who will still be reachable if something goes wrong.
- The installation warranty lies with us: installation, electrical work, commissioning. That's the part we honour directly.
- Business liability insurance: as an installation company, we carry liability insurance.
In the event of a fault, you have one point of contact – us – regardless of whose component is affected.
